Bicton Baths
80 Blackwall Reach Parade, Bicton
Arguably one of the best locations to swim on the famous Swan River.
As the baths are situated in a tidal gorge, the water is heavily influenced by the ocean and is ultimately quite clean.
A u-shaped jetty presents an exciting opportunity for the kids to get a bit of air on their jumps.
This area is great for playing in the sand, swimming in the shallows and snorkelling.
The calm waters also make it an ideal spot for kayaking and paddleboarding.
The baths offer opportunities to see dolphins and other aquatic life. Consider packing a picnic and making it a family day out by the scenic river!
Insider Info
It can get quite busy on the weekends during summer, so do plan to get there early to find a parking space.
Remember to bring your floaties and snorkel gear - there are plenty of fish, rocks, shells and other marine life to see!
Access
There are paved paths from the carpark down to the beach - suitable for wheelchairs or prams.
The car park is also located close to the foreshore (a 1 minute walk) so there won’t be a need to lug all your picnic essentials or swim gear around.
In the Area...
For the more adventurous, consider doing the Jenna Biddi Yoga trail, one of the Aboriginal dreaming trails along the Swan and Canning rivers. This trail is 4km long (return) and stretches from Bicton Baths to Point Walter Reserve.
It overlooks the cliff tops of Blackwall Reach and families can learn more about the cultural significance of this trail by listening to a guided audio tour in the Geotourist app. This is a sealed trail and is suitable for wheelchairs and prams.
